It was three years ago today that I embarked on a one way drive with a bursting Civic of belongings to your great city walls.
To an apartment I had never seen but now owned. To a job I was skeptical I could handle. And to a place where I knew no one.
(well, I take that back. One of my best friends Rina lived there but she moved away just one month later) :(
And even though you have your downsides:
cough cough....endless traffic...cough cough
Valet-only parking basically everywhere, distance between me and my family, the endless summer of rain....
Despite that, you are my favorite. You are beautiful. I never get tired of looking at all your shiny lights and when I leave, even though I know I'm coming back, I get a little sad.
But more than all your bright lights, more than all your endless activities and sport teams and festivals and bubbling energy,
You gave me this...
Some of the best friends of my life. And so much love and friendship and countless memories.
You may not know what you meant to me. But you...you inanimate city you...you brick and mortar...were a city full of hopes. Breath to me and new beginnings, fresh starts and endless dreams.
They haven't all come true but, you keep me chasing and trying and, above all, hoping.
For that, I love you forever Atlanta.
