Halfsies

Yesterday was the BIG DAY! And seeing as my weekend consisted of pool time (yes, I know it's October but it was 82 degrees!) rest, hydration, rest, hydration, etc..the race is really the only thing of note I did this weekend.
Pre-race selfie in which I failed to look in the mirror. I suck at selfies. In my defense, it was early....

Sunday brought a 4:15am wake up call but thankfully no torrential downpours rain as was predicted.

Love love love the energy in the air before a race

I would love to say that the race was awesome and super easy but, in efforts to keep this blog honest and real....

Ya'll, the race was HARD. Literally every single one of my training runs was better than the run. My legs started hurting at mile 8..something that doesn't usually happen for me until after the race and starting from mile 10 to the finish I experienced some lovely dizziness. It was bad news bears.

But, I made it through AND met my goal. I wanted to run it under 2 hours and I crossed the finish line at 1:55:04...which was a PR of 18 minutes from my last half. Whoo Hoo!
aaaand finally the post race gremlin photo. me-ow.

I had awesome friends who came out to cheer me on...and wrote sidewalk chalk notes to to other runners...
How cute is this?

And celebrated with me post race.

and sent me cute little pics from my adorable fur nephew.

I'm obsessed.

and a BIG thank you to you guys for all the sweet love on instagram and facebook and twitter! You're the best!

How was your weekend?

OMG first of all this: "The Human body can only take so much & then the heart and sole take over." I AM OBSESSED WITH IT. I am certain that when people start to get tired/hurt during a run that their heart and sole really do take over! Its a freaky/awesome experience!

second...GO YOU!! Under 2 hours that is absolutely amazing!! You are a rockstar :)

xoxoxo Next year...you and I...disney half marathon!?!? hahah

Okay, if you seriously set a PR by 18 minutes (plus under 2 hours) while being dizzy and having leg pains....you're a total rock star. WAY TO GO!! You're awesome!

And the picture of the nephew? Cutest thing ever. Love the headband. Ha!
