A few months back, in efforts to help myself embrace our current freezing season (anything below 65, I officially consider "freezing:), I made a list of fun fall things to do.
And on said list was the idea of Friendsgiving - celebrating Thanksgiving but with friends instead of family. Someone would host it, we'd all cook something and then I'd we would all get to come over and eat.
I think this makes me basically the smartest person that ever lived.
Saturday afternoon I slaved away making a pumpkin pie.
Beaters were most definitely licked but, from all the comments on instagram, I hear this is commonplace practice
Saturday night, we all gathered at Shannon's house for our First Annual Friendsgiving. And though I don't lightly toss around the word "epic"....I daresay our Friendsgiving was epic.
Prime rib, broccoli and corn bread casseroles, and my contribution of dumping pre-canned pumpkin into a pre-made pie crust. I was very impressed with us.
We in fact did not eat in the dark. The dining room light was just highly uncooperative with my camera
Cutest dishwashing crew this side of the Mason-Dixon
please note....this picture was taken after dinner. ignore my food baby
I have so much that I am thankful for but today....I'm thankful for these girls right here!
Have you ever had a Friendsgiving?

I think Friendsgiving sounds like the perfect idea. Definitely an idea I'll have to keep for the future. Do you have any big plans with your family for Thanksgiving day?
