That Time the Pole Got in the Way of My Swagger

I initially was never going to share this story because

ya'll

It's embarrassing.

But...ever since I got Pippa two months ago........

You remember Pippa

I have been the most careful driver in the world. You would think I have William and Kate's royal child in the backseat with how cautious I am.

And I park at the very back of every parking lot. I get out and walk all the way around my car to make sure I am completely in the center of the parking lines.

So naturally when I pulled into the garage last Saturday I was on point. Highly alert....you get the point.

Since we have underground parking, there are huge cement poles every third spot to essentially hold up the building.
(I hear they are necessary.)

I began to pull into my spot extra carefully, watching my passenger door mirror since it sticks out when I heard the most horrifying sound........

and that, my friends, would be cement hitting car...two month old WHITE car might I add.

Somehow in my extreme caution of watching the dang passenger side mirror, the pole attacked the bottom of my passengar side door.

I got out and surveyed the damage... which was a dent and chipped paint.

I'm not a crier but ya'll, I cried. Right there in my apartment garage.

.
......

So skip to this weekend where I take Pippa back to the dealership for a dent estimate.

Since I knew a 5 mile run was in my future after the visit, I didn't bother showering and threw on workout clothes and my rat-nest hair into a ponytail.

Naturally, the dent estimator was SMOKING HOT

So there I sat looking disgust telling the hot dent estimator how I ran my own car into a pole. #embarrassing

When I thought about all the new adventures I'd have in Pippa, I imagined traveling to the airport for fun trips, packed full of friends for night's out, driving to the chapel on my wedding day, strapping in a little nugget in a carseat in the back.

NOT pole-hugging.

The End.

I swear, you are the best story teller. It doesn't matter to me any more (you know, since I'm an old married lady), but before I was married I remember always meeting the hotties when I looked disgust ...

Awwww I am so sorry Pippa stuck that damn passenger side of hers out and hit the pole!!! How upsetting, I totally know the feeling! My old VW Bug (white also), Keke (pronounced Kiki), did the same thing once. Boo hiss!

Aww that stinks! Poor Pippa. But doesn't it ALWAYS happen that when you're looking extra hot and put together you don't see anyone, but when you're just running out for a second to run an errand, you see EVERYONE and their hot brother!

Ashley! you left on the best part of the story... did the hot dent estimator guy ask for your digits?! (I refuse to believe you are anything shy of beautiful even in sweaty running gear)

I'm sorry though! I ran into another vehicle and cried in my new honda... life happens I guess. *insert cyber hug*

Ashley, I'm right there with you. If you remember, I blogged about my nice little brush with my garage door. NOT COOL. FML. My right bumper is all kinds of effed up. I need to call my insurance company like tomorrow. UGH! Why does everything cost money?

Sorry to hear about how that pole attacked Pippa!! If it makes you feel any better, Brian and I have both lightly tapped a cement wall in my car. ugh parking garages. and just this morning Brian got a flat tire! Happy Monday!

Poor pippa. I did the same thing to my car last year.... I had been in class, when I came out in was pouring snow and ice. I go to leave the parking deck and my car slides on ice and hits a yellow pole... on my deep blue car. I cried my eyes out!!!

aww poor pippa! :( give my CR-V sister some love and i hope it won't be a huge deal to get her fixed!!

I KNOW THE CEMENT POLES YOU SPEAK OF AND GIRLLLL I GOT ATTACKED BY ONE TOO. I hate that pole and I refuse to ever visit it again. Our parking garage is full of parking idiots and I get lucky if I can even find a spot away from those stupid poles. I'm sorry Pippa is suffering right now...that stinks big time :( P.s.) I cried too. It's okay...We can be pole haters and cry together. Friends fo life!

I'm sorry to hear about that. Poles can be evil! The way you told the story had me laughing in the library however. So, hats off to you! Just found your blog, and will def be back!

Oh noooo! Ugh, I had one of these embarrassing stories over the summer when I ran smack dab into my husband's car when backing out of the garage! On a positive note- you are hilarious! And I promise, your little Pippa will be back to new in no time!

Ugh that is the worst feeling! Hope Pippa feels better soon! And you won my giveaway! Congrats girl! :)

OH! I am so sorry! That sounds simply awful and don't you hate running into hot guys when you're about to workout? Ugh = the worst.
Hang in there! xo

Oh no!! I hope Pippa is fixed now. And hey, I'm sure the smoking hot dent estimater appreciated that you obviously care about staying in shape!

ooh noooo!!! that sucks girly!! At least it's fixable!!

I've only had my car for 3 months now and THE DAY I made my first payment on it a rock flew up and chipped the CRAP out of my windshield. LIVID is an understatement. I called my husband and demanded a new windshield lol...

PS-why can't I be as creative as you when it comes to car names?! Pippa!? How stinkin' cute! I call mine "Lex"...short for "Lexus"...real original...I KNOW! (not.)

Megan said...

Awwwww, you poor poor thing!!! This kinda made me laugh, though. You retell stories so well!! I'm hoping Pippa is fixed and back to brand spanking new!!

Michaela said...

Oh dear lord. You have a gift in telling your stories. I can't believe this! No joke, I borrowed my friends' white car (brand new) last year and did the same thing to HER car against the cement pole. It was terrible. Needless to say things got out of hand and we're no longer friends haha!

isn't the sound of the crunching metal when your car runs into something the WORST SOUND EVER?

I would know. Like three times know.
