Summer > Fall

In the midst of all the pumpkin spice lattes, cozy scarves,  football, kittens and rainbow posts….you’ll find me – hanging on to summer’s every last thread and being bitter every time the thermometer reads lower than 90 degrees. I’m just not ready for fall. It totally snuck up on me. I’ll get there but for now, I just can’t let go. Summer is just such a superior season for a number of reasons…

-Daylight Savings Time – Yeah you get an extra hour of sleep but when it gets dark at 3:57pm, does that really matter? I enjoy leaving work and knowing I still have a good two hours of sunny daylight!

-Tans – Pasty people close your eyes but, have you ever heard anyone say “Look at that amazing white glow?!” I adore a summertime shimmer and I enjoy getting it  for free with the help of Mr. sunshine vs. $39.95 with the help of Mr. Mystic.

-Summer Clothes – While I do love a good pair of Hudson jeans or over-the-knee boots, I think summer clothes provide many more options – you have skirts, shorts, jeans, dresses, sandals, wedgies, peep-toes, flip flops….I mean, endless. In winter –you’re pretty much limited to pants or dresses with tights…..it all depends on if you have an extra 5 minutes to spare in the bathroom to fix those suckers every time you go.

-Activities – In summer, the activities are ongoing….pool, lake, baseball games, parks, etc….in winter the activity is figuring out how you can get  from your car to the grocery store without ever actually going outside. And yes, I realize I live in Atlanta and not North Dakota…..I don’t handle the cold well.

-Staying fit – So much harder in winter! Not only is the threat of having to be 90% naked in front of all your friends every weekend gone as motivation in the winter, the luscious supply of fruits has vanished from the grocery store bins and everywhere you go there’s mounds of “comfort food” prepared Paula Dean style. …..I can hear my thighs saying “look away! Look away!”

However, not to be totally negative, I found one reason fall>summer…..lower electric bills! And that’s something we can all rejoice in!

Don’t worry….I’ll come to terms soon and enjoy the cooler temps I find myself in!

What’s your favorite season…..(Fall Lovers Included!) and why?!
And a HUGE, GREAT THANK YOU to Nikki for passing on the iDig Your Blog Award and to Pinky and Britney for the  Versatile Bloggers Award....You guys rock!

XO, A

I love both fall and spring because of the mild temperatures. Those are the only seasons I can stand being outside during. Both seasons mean jeans weather, which means that I don't need to shave my legs every day (Bonus!). I want to move somewhere that has PA Fall weather year round. There's just something about wearing jeans and a hoody that makes me so happy.

Well you raise a number of valid points... I will admit that I miss my fall clothes, but I have more fun getting dressed in the summer. yep, that's right it's a dance party getting dressed round here haha

my co-worker told me she is always thinner in winter-- what the $%@^$?!!?! I plan to find out how

Props for mysting and not tanning bedding lol

October is my favorite month for a couple reasons-- I love fall things, it's my BIRTHDAY!, The world series begins, and its HALLOWEEN!

I think fall is probably my favorite season, but summer definitely is a close #2. (hahaha #2)

Then again, our Buffalo winters normally last from October - April, so summer and fall are the only two normal seasons we get. :)

I could not agree more on the comfort food!! I feel like it stalks me as I'm walking through the grocery store. Ha! :)

girl i'm with you. summer is the best. i love finally getting to wear boots again now that it's chillier, but that's it. why do you think i spent 4 years in San Diego? no winter season...

GUUUUUUUUUURFRIEND you and I are CUT FROM THE SAME SUMMER CLOTH!!!

It drove me nutso when the blog world was all a frenzy for fall TWO MONTHS AGO!!! EKKK!!! No no no no I want warm summer beaches, shorts, skirts, dress and flips!

Mega sadface over here for cold weather. DC isn't freezing but I'm not happy below 60 degrees, unless I'm skiing!

Thanks for making me not feel like the loser kid at the lunch table ;)

Now you've got me thinking! I do love all of the diff options summer has and I can't stand waking up in the morning when it's still pitch black. That = zero motivation to do anything. Or the fact it gets dark at like 7pm. Def. hurts the workout schedule!

you are so insightful...:)

Hmm now you got me thinking!!

I love Summer, but in all honesty, I would rather be wrapped up next to the fire with some hot cocoa and pumpkin bread. Maybe thats due to the fact that where I grew up, summer only stuck around for 3ish months, and then it was back to rain and cold.

Love that you mist instead of using the bed!!

OBSESSED with Fall/Winter. I love the holidays, the cooler weather, and I love the style of clothes better. I love nothing more than throwing a pair of jeans, uggs and a hoodie on. Or cute sweaters and jeans.

You make great points tho and I have to agree, I'm down with all those reasons to love Summer.

Oh and my birthday is in Fall :)

I agree with much of what you are saying. I LOVE a good tan and there is just something about laying out by the pool on a Saturday that is soo relaxing. Now, I live in Ohio - you might die if you lived here because it gets sooo freakin' cold. We pretty much hibernate from Dec-March. There is nothing to do in the winter!! I hate that. Summer there is many many more options. I have to say I agree with you summer > fall. I do love Fall weather but HATE when it gets colder than like 50 degrees ..ugh!

I so agree that summer trumps all seasons! I get so depressed everytime fall comes around, and it only makes it worse that everyone seems to just looove fall. I'm so glad someone else agrees with me!

i'm so much like your dad - i love it cold. i think if it was continually cold, i would definitely get sick of it. but i love the coziness of fall and winter!
it does reduce clothing options, though. even though, im not much of a seasonal dresser. i wear rainbows all year round. but it's not like there's much temperature change here. ;)

I agree with you on every single one of those points. A Southern thing maybe? But I do love fall. I love the feeling it gives me. And pumpkins. I like anything having to do with pumpkins.

All valid points, friend. Summer is definitely my favorite time of the year, but I do love sitting by a fire with some hot chocolate. :)

ha! love it - esp. about the electric bills. i remembered thinking that back in chicago.

i love both summer and fall! i don't think i'll ever love winter again esp. after living in chicago - it ruined me for life. i hate being cold. i don't mind cooler temps, but please no more snow!

I'm right there with you!

I just need one more good weekend of bikini wearing fun! Then maybe I'll let go and let Fall take over...

Fall just makes winter that much closer though, and winter in the ATL is not fun... it's a wet, windy cold that chills you to the bone!

AMEN. I never want summer to end! Fall is nice, but it just means that winter (UGH!) is coming. I hate winter. LIke HATEHATEHATE winter. I swear its Satan's season. I hate it. But you were asking about my favorite season, weren't you? :) Summer. Its the furthest from winter!

I'm kinda in the middle-I love summer but it has been SO HOT here that I'm ready for some cooler temps..but I def think there are more things to do in the summer vs the fall

Ohhh girl. I cannnot WAIT for Fall. Can.not.wait. This summer heat and humidity was beyond re-donkulous. Yep- I'm a Faller and Springer all the way! But, I still heart you and your summer loving soul.

so funny, just yesterday I was complaining that it still felt like summer. It's hitting triple digits out here! haha I love them both but I think I like Fall a teeeeensy bit more (:

I love fall.. it's my fave season! I love how it is cool out, and the changing of the leaves. My fave holidays are in the fall-October and November, plus it's my hubby's birthday. Fall fashion is also my favorite. I hate how shorts look on me, so I wear my jeans all year long.

Favorite season definitely fall! Worst..winter burrr!

Fall---I love the colors and pumpkins and pumpkin spice lattes. I stayed home from work 2 Fridays ago and went to Starbucks in Bluffton for said latte. Of course, I wish it were colder.

Whitney said...

i love fall, but you're making me miss summer girly. i toally feel you though on the workout motivation. it is so much harder to drag my butt off the warm couch to get to the gym. arggg...i already dread it. haha. maybe you can keep me motivated.

Summer is my favorite season as well. I love being able to wear close to nothing, enjoying the long summer days and the activies summer provides. Fall can be swell but it leads to winter which is an all out bummer to me. I become a hermit in the colder months. And I am Birmingham....I do'nt think I would survive anywhere colder as well. Great post.

Those Aldo pumps are divine? Are they comfy?

I'm undecided on a fav season, I want to embrace fall but our summer was nonexistent so I'm torn.

I shouldn't have read this post, haha. I am already missing my open toed shoes some kinda bad and daylight savings time ending.. :-( :-( :-( Yes... talk about it being harder to exercise. When you get home from work and it feels like it's 10:00 bc it's pitch dark, I just want to lay on the couch and watch tv!
