That Time Bloomies Got Crunk...on the 4th

The 4th was Blissful. Shannon came to visit and we filled our days with sun, movies, shopping and lots of fun dinners.
Bright and early on the 4th I ran the Peachtree Road Race which was fun but intense. When I got to the race this girl I was chatting with told me about a little something called "Cardiac Hill." Let me tell you....the name doesn't lie...you will feel your thumper telling you to knock it off! I'm convinced I've never sweat that much in my life. And then on mile 4 I got shoved into a spraying fire hydrant. That's always a special joy.
do you see me in there?

I decided to end my 4th with a quick trip to the mall. I parked in the Bloomies since it wasn't that crowded and walked in. Some gold watches caught my eye when I first walked in and before I headed toward my real mission, I decided to take a quick glance at the shoes.

As I was closing in on some Steve Madden stilettos, all of a sudden I heard a man's voice scream "GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN." I looked around the store and saw a pack of women and children hauling it towards the door. I ran over to the makeup counter from out in the wide open and "got down." All the Bloomingdale's employees were hunched behind their counters and I crawled around to the side as shouts of "GET DOWN" continued to be hurled out to the store and people scrambled to take cover behind chairs and tables. I heard one of the employees say "Call security" and the girl respond "The phones are dead." Perfect....

I knew the commotion had started in the shoe department but had no idea where it would end and since I wasn't that far from the door thought it might be wise to leave instead. I inched my way towards the door making sure to stay below the height of the counter and then sprinted the remaining 5 feet out the door....where I was greeted by a security officer yelling at everyone to move away from the door.

She didn't have to tell me twice. I ran to my car in the middle of the lot where I strained to see the doors and ten minutes later saw a man being "escorted" out in handcuffs.
I have NO clue what happened in there but it was super scary!
Needless to say, this homegirl will not be perusing the Bloomies again for awhile!

And then it POURED rain in Atlanta so fireworks plans were canceled and were replaced with a cozy movie night!

What did you all do yesterday?

ummm excuse me? WHAT THE EFF? This is so something that would happen to me. Like, what? I would have been crying. I can't believe you had the balls to run to your car. I'd probably be hunched in a ball behind a counter crying out for my mom. No joke. WOW! I cannot believe this. "get down, get down"? And not to mention all the crazed loons we have out there today opening fire. Sweet jesus, I hope you got a glass of wine after that adventure. Glad you are alive and well!

"That's always a special joy." - LOL to you getting slammed into a fire hydrant.

Phew ... my stomach is in knots after reading that. "Imma need a mimute"
