My Little Dutch Boy

It's no secret that our family are HUGE animal people.

Case in point: Our family's backyard overlooks the river and by "backyard" I mean a huge palmetto bush forest. For years my parents have put little piles of food and water out for our numerous neighboring raccoons. We've watched generations of baby raccoons grow up.

But apart form our wild fuzzies, we have a special place in our hearts for dogs. When my dad was a police officer, he was the K-9 unit and his "partner" Ivan - a massive German Shepherd - was also our first pet. When Ivan wasn't being a down-and-dirty-criminal catcher....he was hanging in our backyard in his blue plastic pool working on being the sweetest dog.

And then there's our little Tilly.....she was our family dog for 16 years. She was definitely a family member. She drank her water from a glass cup (bottled not tap), ate lunch meat for dinner and demanded her own  bowl of ice cream equal in size to your own. She had the most adorable face in the planet and rocked her back fat better than anyone in our neighborhood.

Which brings me to our current fur-baby....make that fur-nephew. My sister got a dog earlier this year. His name is Omalley and he has my heart - I miss my little noodle!

Since it is so dang hot this summer, little Omo goes to the groomers quite frequently to get his locks trimmed. He got the "Puppy Cut" this last time and I can't help but laugh as he has a certain resemblance to this guy:

YAY for animals. I grew up on a farm, so I've had pets ranging from sheep, to emus to ponies.

I currently have two cats. But don't tell them they're cats. They think they are babies. :)

hahah he does look like the little dutch boy! thats hilarious

thats so cool your dad was a K9 police officer with a criminal catching sidekick and everything! German shepherds are awesome dogs and it stinks that some people hate them so much because they think theyre "vicious dogs"

kurts family has 2 now and they both lick your face like there's no tomorrow! love them!

my family had a black lab named Charlie growing up and he was the best! Your dogs are awesome! Was Tilly a Dachsund? so so cute!

bahahaha too funny! That picture you found does totally resemble his haircut !

I had a sheltie growing up (think mini Lassie) and the only reason I didn't get another was bec when I first started working post college, I lived in an apartment and such a breed needs lots of exercise! So I opted for Aspen, my dog now who is a Pomeranian...she's pretty much showcased weekly on le blog! :)

such cuteness! They look adorable! My husband is a huge pet lover, so we do have quite a bit of them right now. Currently, I'm trying to get rid of 6 kittens. They're super cute, but they need to go.

Do I have pets?? 6 cats and 2 dogs. I've had cats live to be 16-20. The first one I got when I was 12 and she lived til I was 31--had cancer. The best thing is they love me no matter what, and they are great entertainment.

They are all too adorable! I love the names you gave your pets, so creative! My family loves animals too, we have 7 pets now, 6 of which are rescues. And we've saved countless birds and other little animals over the years as well. It always warms my heart to hear that others love animals so much too!!
