The Best Day

If someone were to ask you what the best day of your life was, would one pop into your mind? I’m sure top of the list best days were wedding days, children’s births, possibly engagements, remissions or  graduations.

When I was at work the other day, I was thinking about the day of my interview – walking along all the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the city and past all the cubes (wishing) and wondering if these people would be my future coworkers. If I would get to know them and their stories. And then I thought about later that day when HR called me and said all other interviews had been canceled and I was hired. They had picked ME. And I thought– gosh that was the best day of my life.  (Seriously ya'll, I hung up the phone and burst into tears like I'd just won the Publisher's Clearing House or something).

But then I realized that (obviously) that hasn’t always been the best day of my life….in fact, that label’s been passed around a couple times at least…..starting with probably my first trip to Disneyland (seriously, that place is intensely magical!)– passing through love and on to where I am now.

And I’m sure my best day will change again at some point. At least I hope so – that’s what makes life exciting right?

But it made me curious as to what all of your “best days of your life” are?  Has it always been the same? Do share!

To Best Days! XO, A

Love this post! The best day of my life so far has been the day that I got married. Everything was perfect and I wish I could relive the way I felt that day every day of the year.

Gosh this is an interesting thought. I haven't really considered it before. I don't think I can pinpoint one day as THE BEST day. But my time in Israel and France were some of the best!

I love your best days! They are so atypical! :)

I'm going to be a boring poster and say my wedding. Yawn - on to the next comment. ;)

What a cute idea for a post. I am so happy to hear you landed a wonderful job that you so desperatly wanted!

My most recent best day was my pinning and graduation day from nursing school. Before that hmm...I'll have to think about it. I really think it's important to know of and hold onto your past special days.

giiiirl, props to you for this amazeballs post.

the best day of my life overall would have to be with my sisters, driving in a car along the coast of corfu and listening to tracy chapman and the weather was absolutely perfect and it was just magical. i get chills when i think of that day!

other than that, i'd have to say some best days now include john... gay, but i feel bad for having a best day that doesn't include him. haha. can't help it because he has sexy bedroom eyes. ;)

xo lady!

um...you are pretty much the shit if you had an interview and then they cancelled the rest and were like "nope. she's our girl." that's so awesome!

my best day? it involves drinking...duh. but so far, it was when my girlfriends and i had a bar crawl in cola with 5 of our guy friends. we all had team shirts and just went around barhopping on a monday night in 5 points when school was out. we were pretty much the only people in the bars.

my bff devin even said that besides her wedding day and the birth of her son that the bar crawl night ranks #3 on the best nights of her life.

Fun idea. Umm ... I don't think I have a best day of my life. Maybe getting picked as editor of my college yearbook. ha! I know that sound gay. But I was really proud of that accomplishment.

MAYBEEE the day my nephew was born????

I don't know this is a great question. Is it completely and utterly pathetic I don't have a best day that I can think of?????? AM I that LAME????????

i feel so honored to know someone who did so incredibly amazing at a job interview that all other applicants were cancelled! i'm so glad you get to do the job you LOVE in your favorite city - so happy for you! :)

i'm not good a picking "best" or "favorites" at all, but three weeks ago, i got a scholarship to a governors school camp and raised all my china money plus enough to pay for flow. other than that, i loved going to japan and china! and of course any day i get a high test grade/paper back.

this is tough. graduating from university - most accomplished day. watching my sisters graduate from elementary and high school - proudest days. being the MOH at my cousin's wedding last summer - probably the happiest day of my life.

I love that you say best days change..because they do!

I cant choose one specific best day because honestly, if I go to the grocery store and see that they have free food samples, that's the best day.

Or if I find out I have the day off from work, that's the best day!

And when I see my college roommates who I haven't seen in a while that's also a best day!

this was a great post and so so true because things do change!

and another best day will be the day you girls receive my traveling blogger package!

So I've been sitting here trying to think of the absolute best day.... I can't pick one out. I've had a lot of GREAT days.... but none that were ever like.... WOW, best day ever.

Ya know? Wow that kind of sounds sad.

How about this: Every day is the best day when I read your blog. bahha I'm a cheese ball.

I had 100 best days of my life in a row when I went on Semester at Sea. I loved that every day was a new adventure and I got to see so many places and so many different parts of the world. That was one time in my life when I never took a day for granted :)

Awwww, you are SO sweet!! I just love you, Ash!! I think the best day of my life has changed, too! Or maybe not even changed, but maybe there is no "best day." Maybe there are best dayS! I would say now it was the day I got married, but I'm sure when I have kids I will say then, too!!

Great blog post idea!! I seriously may have to borrow it next week! :)

Best days.....I do agree that they probably change over time. I don't know what my best day would be, but I think of "best times" more. When I was little and I'd spend all day hanging out with my grandma doing fun things.....when I spent a summer as a summer associate in San Francisco getting to have so much fun.....traveling to Europe.....winning some sheep shows....I can't pick one!

how weird/pathetic is it that I can't think of the best day of my life... I really don't know...

Oh but I think that is the coolest thing ever that you got the job and cried! it's amazing to feel that passionate about something!

If I didn’t forget my phone at home today (#$@!) I could quote myself better…

But last night, when Stone and I were texting (yes 75% of our relationship involves texting since our schedules are completely opposite)

I was telling him about my blog friends…. Well actually that’s a lie. I only told him about 1 for now. and that 1 was you! I said something along the lines of

“I have this one blog friend and she lives in Atlanta and shes really cute”
Haha creepy? Maybe? Girl crush? Absolutely

OH and THANK YOU for your sweet comments! i’ll trade you a dress for 2 inches of your hair. Please and thank you!

awesome question! but so, so hard to answer!

I think the best day{s} of my life were when the Hubs & I got back from our honeymoon. Those first few days back in our small, midwestern town just the two of us FINALLY living together were just so wonderful!

but the day we adopted Murphy is a close second. that's how obsessed I am with my pup!

Congrats on the job, girl!! I love how excited you are about it! And I love that your best-day-ever changes! I think it does for all of us. I mean, it would be sad if the best day I ever experience is graduation or my wedding... I have a whole 60+ years to live after those events! It would be sad to know I've already lived the best day and just have mediocre or 'good' days from now on.

The day I realized that God loves me makes the list. The day Christopher proposed makes the list. The day I graduated makes the list. The day we got married makes the list. Our honeymoon makes the list. Our anniversary trips make the list. I have a very strong feeling that the day I become a mom will overshadow all of these. Or the first time my child tells me they love me. Or... yeah, lots of best-days-ever. I will say, though, that the wedding day was definitely the one day that EVERYONE told me how gorgeous I was all day long. That was pretty brilliantly amazing. ;)

Okay so this comment is way too long, haha!

Such a cute post, Ash (:

Let's see...the best day of my life was probably seeing my mom sitting in my dorm room as a surprise visit last year, after a month of not seeing her! Disneyland is of course on the top of the list, too! Being in NYC was pretty bomb.com too though! SO many (:

I adore this and you and I wish I could think of my best day. There have been some moments though that have been the best moments. That time when R said to me, "I want to know every part of you." including my depression stuff. I could cry tears thinking about it. That kind of made it all worth it. All of it because of that moment and those 2am "Hey you" texts.

And of course GOING TO ATLANTA AND MEETING ASHLEY KRIEGER TOPS THE LIST OF BEST MOMENTS
