Making Simple Things Hard

My first dose of "city life".....and it goes a little something like this....

After work on wednesday I planned on hopping in the car and heading over to Lenox Mall to hit Zara. I plugged the GPS in and it said it would only take 9 minutes. Of course I knew it would take longer than this due to traffic as I approached the city but pssssh no big. Wrong. Lenox Mall has like 12 major entrances. When you don't even know what side of the road you're supposed to be on, this presents a problem.

I stalked this lady to her parking spot....like, for real stalked her....only to have her spend 3 minutes in her car NOT backing up. I have no clue what she was doing in there!

So after leaving Zara sans-purchase I headed back towards Macy's only to realize that I had exited the wrong exit....I came in at men's ties and cologne and exited at women's handbags. Having done this once before with my high school boyfriend (we were convinced the truck had been stolen) I remained calm and (thankfully) realized my mistake before wandering the parking lot for an hour...I finally located my car and directed the GPS to go home. I figured (logically) that the GPS would take me home the same way it brought me. Again....wrong. I followed that bossy brit right onto TOLL 400. Of course she didn't tell me I was headed for a toll until I was on it. Frantically, I started digging in the bottom of my Louis for loose change only to realize that the bag of quarters I'd been collecting specifically for this purpose was tucked neatly in my kitchen drawer....because that's a really helpful place for it to be.

I pulled up to the cashier's window where I gave him a $20 for my FIFTY-CENT toll. Dang you 400.

I headed towards Wal-Mart because I was in dire need of Saltines and soup....I'm currently battling "sickness" again (I swear, I NEVER get sick but I have made up for it this year - sick-ish nearly three times already. Pull it together immune system....pull it together.) Of course the closest spot was only 2 miles from the entrance, naturally. I hitch-hiked my way to the front door (just kidding mom), collected a few items and headed towards the line - realizing that my saltine trip had now taken a collective 45 minutes.

Oh Atlanta, I do love you, but tonight I'm over your traffic. Needless to say I'm SOOO glad it's friday. Headed out tonight with friends. What fun things do your weekends hold?

This is how I feel sometimes, missing the simplicity of a smaller town. I was raised in SC and Kentucky until I was 15, but having lived in LA, San Francisco, and now NY since then, I'm a little exhausted with saltine trips taking 45 minutes. I feel ya girl!

I really hope your night out tonight makes up for that madness.

I am indignant for you that you had to spend 20 dollars for 50 cents. Insanity!

hahaha, sorry to laugh but this is like a post i would write, exactly. i would say welcome to the city life but realistically, i live in louisville and sitting in traffic for more than 38 seconds drives me absolutely insane. happy weekend though girl!! xo
