Kissing you goodbye……but there may be tears

Happy Wednesday! So glad we’re halfway through-ish….Ok, so I’m not even going to pretend that I don’t have a massive problem with that little white substance known as sugar. I’m a total sweet tooth! I have no problem turning down chips or dips or popcorn but pass a brownie or cookie by me and any form of self control decides to take flight from my body.

(this picture is of crystalized sugar...not crystal meth - in case you were wondering)

It really is true that if you stop eating it, you stop craving it. For the month of November I rarely had sweets in my house….and I felt great! But then that pesky little Christmas holiday came around and despite my best efforts, my cabinets were suddenly filled with cookie goodness, peppermint bark and candy in shiny red and green foil wrappers….which of course I ate. I mean, I had to. The faster you eat, the faster it goes away you can start eating healthy right? Right. Duh.

So, in a 12-day late New Year’s challenge, I’ve decided to ban sugar from my diet. I know that most of you are doing incredible challenges like the 30 for 30 or 365 day project but, let’s be realistic – anything longer than 7 days and I’m pretty sure I will cheat. I know that a lot of things have natural sugars in them so those don’t count (or else I may starve) but this does mean no sugary cereals (goodbye captain crunch…I WILL miss you), no sugary desserts (well hey there fruit, welcome back into my life) and yes you, breakfast cereal bars that come across as morning oaty goodness but are secretly loaded with sugar.

So, here goes – starting today I’m going to go sugarless… least for 7 days or until my self control decides to come back!
Happy Wednesday loves!

you have SO much courage...I could never give up sugar. I gave up DDP (aka diet dr. pepper) last year and survived through our wedding, but not much longer ;) You can do it! Best of luck, little lady! Keep us posted...xoxo {av}

I know exactly what you mean---the faster you eat it all, the sooner the obligation is done and you can be healthy again! I do the same thing. If I don't have it, I still want it, but I don't go crazy (most of the time).

I cut out sugar for a week in the summer, and I felt totally awesome. It was amazing---and then I went to a social function and threw it all out the window.

I need to do it again...soon. It's worth it! I know you'll come back and talk about it so I can get motivated again too!

that's a great idea! i wish i could do that type of thing too, but i wouldn't even know where to start with what does and doesn't have a lot of sugar, like the breakfast bars, they could've fooled me!

I've been doing the sugarless thing too and to be honest I totally cracked the other night. But I'm so proud of myself still because I've been eating healthy which has made a HUGE difference in how I feel. Good luck on your sugar challenge!

GOOD LUCK!!! I could never go a single day without sugar. It is a staple in my diet. Life without it is just not worth living.

Let us know how this goes and if you feel different/better after a week without it! :)
